Lucid Motors will roll out hands-free highway driving this month

Lucid Motors is stepping up its game in the autonomous driving arena, announcing the rollout of a hands-free highway driving feature this month. This move places Lucid alongside automotive giants like Ford, General Motors, and Tesla, all of which have been pioneering advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) that allow for hands-free operation under certain conditions.

The feature, dubbed "Lucid Highway Assist," is designed to provide a more relaxed driving experience on highways, leveraging a combination of cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors to monitor the vehicle's surroundings. It's a significant step forward for Lucid, which has been steadily building its reputation in the luxury EV market with its Air sedan.

However, Lucid emphasizes that the system is not fully autonomous and requires drivers to remain attentive and ready to take control at any moment. The rollout will begin with a select group of Lucid Air owners, with plans to expand availability in the coming months. This phased approach allows Lucid to gather real-world data and feedback, ensuring the system's reliability and safety before a wider release.
