SEC’s crypto task force to hit the road with 10 roundtables across the US
The roundtables, scheduled to be held in 10 cities, will focus on crypto startups less than two years old and with 10 or fewer employees.
US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce is taking the SEC’s crypto task force on a 10-city tour this fall, marking a significant step in the regulator’s outreach to the crypto community. Announced on Friday, this series of roundtables aims to dive deep into the industry’s needs, gathering insights from developers, investors, and other stakeholders to shape future digital asset regulations.

“The Crypto Task Force is acutely aware that any regulatory framework will have far-reaching effects, and we want to ensure that our outreach is as comprehensive as possible,”

Peirce emphasized the task force’s focus on engaging with the crypto ecosystem’s grassroots—startups under two years old with teams of 10 or fewer. These discussions, set to unfold from August to December, are part of a broader shift in the SEC’s approach under the Trump administration, moving from enforcement to engagement.
The SEC’s pivot comes as the crypto industry gains momentum in the US, buoyed by Trump’s pledge to make the country the “world capital of crypto.” Recent legislative wins, like the GENIUS Act for stablecoins and the advancing CLARITY Act, signal a growing alignment between regulators and the crypto sector. Meanwhile, other agencies, including the Federal Reserve and the OCC, are also easing restrictions, clearing the path for crypto’s integration into the broader financial system.
This outreach initiative raises questions about the SEC’s previous strategies and the costs involved, details of which remain undisclosed. As the crypto community watches closely, these roundtables could herald a new era of collaboration between regulators and innovators.
