Mill City Ventures to load up on more SUI with $500M deal as shares fall 11%

Nasdaq-listed Mill City Ventures III is doubling down on its Sui (SUI) treasury strategy with a fresh $500 million equity agreement, despite an 11.4% nosedive in its share price following the announcement. This move comes hot on the heels of a $450 million raise earlier in the week, which was funneled into purchasing 76.2 million SUI tokens, now valued at $276 million.

The Sui network, a layer-1 blockchain designed for scalable, low-latency applications in AI and gaming, is at the heart of Mill City's strategy. This reflects a broader industry trend of diversifying crypto treasuries beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, with public companies increasingly adopting altcoins like BNB, Solana, and XRP.

Despite the strategic optimism, Mill City's shares (MCVT) took an 11.4% hit to $4.91 on Friday, with an additional 4.28% drop in after-hours trading. However, the stock remains up 165% since July 24, showcasing the volatile yet lucrative nature of crypto investments.

Backing Mill City's ambitious SUI strategy are industry heavyweights like Pantera Capital, Electric Capital, ParaFi Capital, and FalconX, with Galaxy Asset Management managing the treasury assets. The firm plans to allocate 98% of the proceeds from its recent $450 million institutional share sale to its SUI treasury, underscoring its confidence in Sui's potential.

As of the latest data, SUI trades at $3.50, marking a 2.4% decline amidst a broader market downturn. Yet, Mill City's aggressive accumulation strategy signals a bullish outlook on Sui's future in the blockchain ecosystem.
