US must pass regulations or risk losing crypto race — Wyoming Symposium

Panelists at the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium dropped some truth bombs: the US isn't totally cooked yet in the crypto game, but if they don't get their act together with regs ASAP, they're gonna get left in the dust by the EU, APAC, or even the Middle East. Sylvia Favretto from Mysten Labs (yeah, the Sui network folks) said it's not too late, but the window is tiny—like, act now or forever hold your peace. Stuart Alderoty from Ripple was even more blunt: 'If we seize on the opportunity now and get the market structure right, I think we win. If we don't... I think there is a very credible risk that we will lose out.'
Summer Mersinger from the Blockchain Association warned that getting everyone on the same page in DC is gonna be a slog, especially with the 2026 midterms looming. Republicans have a slim majority now, but midterms could flip things and throw everything into gridlock. Joe Doll from Magic Eden echoed that, saying Trump's crew only has about two years to push through meaningful crypto laws before the political circus takes over. Marta Belcher from the same association added that election years make it even harder to pass anything substantial.
Bottom line: the US crypto scene is at a tipping point. Get the regs right, and it's game on. Mess it up, and watch the innovation flee to friendlier shores. No pressure, lawmakers.
