Strategy Steps up Bitcoin Buys with 8,178 BTC Purchase
After weeks of reporting Bitcoin purchases hovering around 400 to 500 BTC, Michael Saylor's company announced a massive crypto investment on Monday.
Michael Saylor's Strategy just dropped a massive bag on Bitcoin — scooping up 8,178 BTC for a cool $835 million. This ain't your average weekly buy — it's a massive power move after months of steady 400-500 BTC purchases.
The company filed with the SEC on Monday, confirming they're back to making big plays in the crypto space. While BTC was trading around $92,016 during the purchase, the timing is spicy — Bitcoin had just taken an 11% dip in the previous week, hitting $94,191 at publication time according to Nansen data.
With this latest acquisition, Strategy now holds a staggering 649,870 BTC — maintaining their crown as the company with the largest Bitcoin treasury. They've been stacking sats consistently since August 2020, and this latest move shows they're not slowing down.
For context on other crypto treasury plays: BitMine Immersion Technologies holds the most ETH (trading at $3,039), while Forward Industries has the biggest SOL position (at $131.55).
Despite last week's Bitcoin flash crash, Saylor made it clear in interviews and on social media that Strategy was still buying the dip. Though their MSTR stock took a 16% hit over five days, dropping to $197.03 — proving even the OGs feel the market volatility.

Strategy chair to debate gold bug?

The drama doesn't stop there — gold investor and Bitcoin hater Peter Schiff challenged Saylor to a debate at Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai this December. Schiff straight up called Strategy's "entire business model a fraud."
At publication time, Saylor hadn't publicly responded to the challenge — but you know the crypto community is waiting for that clapback.
