USDC beats Tether as stablecoin transfer volume hits $1.8T all-time high
Stablecoins have hit an all-time high in monthly transaction volume, as Circle’s USDC flipped Tether’s USDt, new data shows.

USDC "consistently" flips USDt transfer volume

Stablecoin transfer volume just hit a record $1.8 trillion in February — and USDC absolutely dominated with 70% of that volume. That's $1.26 trillion in USDC transactions alone, more than double Tether's $514 billion. Wild, considering USDC's market cap ($77.4B) is less than half of USDT's ($184B).
Moonrock Capital founder Simon Dedic called it a "surprise" — USDC has "consistently flipped" Tether in transfer volume for months. Meanwhile, Circle's been printing USDC like crazy: over $3 billion minted just in March's first week, per Arkham. Tether's supply? Basically flat.
Circle's Q4 earnings were fire, thanks to USDC growth and expanding payments ops. Meanwhile, Florida just passed a state-level stablecoin bill waiting for DeSantis' signature. The stablecoin game is heating up.

More stablecoin liquidity suggests "buying power"

The Stablecoin Supply Ratio (SSR) — Bitcoin's market cap vs stablecoin market cap — is recovering after crashing in February. CryptoQuant analyst Sunny Mom says this shows "buying power is returning to the market."
Stablecoin supply on exchanges hit a three-week high of $66.5 billion on Friday. Inflows to exchanges surged from $1.14 billion on March 1 to nearly $5.14 billion on March 5. More stablecoins on exchanges = more buying power for crypto. Historically, this sidelined capital returning to exchanges has been a major catalyst for Bitcoin bull runs.
  • Stablecoin monthly transaction volume reached a record $1.8 trillion in February.
  • USDC comprised 70% of all stablecoin volume.
  • Rising stablecoin supply on exchanges puts crypto markets in a good position to recover.
